Biography

 

Angelina graduated from the Stage and Costume Department of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 1985. She has been Professor of Set and Costume Design at the Directing Department of the Faculty of Drama Arts in Montenegro since 1999. During the same year, she held a series of lectures and presentations at universities in USA. Since 2011 Angelina has been teaching the Masters program at the Faculty of Drama Arts in Skopje, Macedonia. Her work was exhibited in Czechoslovakia, Japan, Israel, Canada, USA, Russia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

A consummate professional and perfectionist, Angelina transposes deep understanding of the director’s intentions into a unique and compelling visual expression. She has been designing costumes and sets for theatrical productions since 1984. Her work spans 200 projects, most of them classic and contemporary dramas, classical ballets, operas, dance performances, children's and puppet plays. She has worked as a costume designer on 3 feature films and significant projects for TV Serbia and TV Macedonia.

Angelina’s style has earned her numerous national and international awards and recognitions:

She was included in the book, Exceptional Women of Serbia of the 20th and the 21st Century (Zepter Book World 2016), a compilation of 100 women who have marked the history and culture of Serbia.

Lifetime Achievement Award, ULUPUDS (Belgrade, Serbia, 2013)

Special Award for Drama Arts, Budva Theatre City Festival (Montenegro, 2010)

MAX Award for the Best Costume Design (Spain, 2009)

Grand Prize for Design and Applied Arts, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia  (2005)

Atinorama Award for the Best Costume Design (Greece, 2004) 

SEAGULL Award for the Best Costume Design in Russia (2002) 

 Sterija Theatre Festival Awards (Serbia, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2008)

Theatre Journal Scena pronounced her the Best Costume Designer in Serbia four times in a row (1995-1999).
